4 Things you didn’t know about Yoga!

Are you a beginner or savvy in the world of yoga? Or maybe you don’t have a clue but are curious about why it is becoming more and more popular? Stick around and read these 4 fantastic facts you may have not heard of yet!

Yoga is a fountain of youth.

It is well known that having a flexible spine is the essence of a healthy body. The spine is what keeps your body straight and upright, so keeping it flexible increases your movement power. The practice of yoga rejuvenates the spine, keeping it young and flexible. But there are many MANY other health benefits of yoga, such as:

  • Besides the spine, yoga protects all of your bones and joints.

  • Increases your blood flow, healthy circulation!

  • Yoga stimulates your blood pressure, keeping it normal.

  • Increases your immunity and prevents many kinds of diseases.

  • With breathing as an essential factor as well, yoga increases your lung capacity.

  • Yoga is a bridge to your inner spirit.

  • According to many renewed medical institutions, combining yoga and meditation can slow the aging process! (a WIN right!?)

No one really cares how you actually look while doing the yoga postures.

Shocker right? Yoga is for everybody! If you think you are not flexible enough to start with yoga and you might get embarrassed while doing a posture, you couldn’t be more wrong! Yoga is also about spiritual enlightenment and no one would bring you down, only encourage you to be a healthier version of yourself. We all start from somewhere, you only need will.

While we are on the subject of postures, yoga is MUCH MORE than shifting through poses.

Yoga is about unifying our bodies and mind, it is about the breathing and calming of the body with a flexible activated focus. The poses are powerful especially when the alignment is properly done, embodying the spiritual and emotional elements of our being. There are over 100 types of yoga today so you can choose which one feels right for you.

Breathing is one of the most important parts of yoga, so when feeling doubtful about a pose, return to one-to-one breathing.

Breathing of course is the essence of life, but learning yoga breathing is one of the most powerful assets of your wellbeing. Oxigen eliminates toxins, flows through the blood to your brain, reduces stress and anxiety, keeps your organs healthy! Even in ancient times, the importance of breathing was a focal point for the old yogi masters, devoting their time to discovering the connection between taking a breath and releasing it.
